Funmi Vogt is Trust Africa’s Director of Operations and Fundraising Officer. Prior to joining TA Funmi worked as a Director of Development for the School of Global Policy and Strategy of the University of California, San Diego, where she supported overall advancement efforts for the school, particularly the 21st Century China Center. She has also held senior positions in several other institutions, including as Director of Development (Student Affairs) at San Francisco State University; Associate Director of the African Studies Association of the USA and Canada; and Director of Operations at the African Leadership Center in Nairobi. She has also served as Consultant to many international organizations, and worked as a program assistant, research assistant, and volunteer in several other organizations.
Funmi’s research and advocacy interests include African women’s movements in Africa, women in conflict situations and women’s empowerment issues. She also has an interest in studying social and economic relationships between Africa and the African Diaspora and Africa and China.
Funmi holds a Certificate in Human Resources Management from The Wharton Executive Education (Philadelphia, PA); an M.A. (Merit), African Studies (Anthropology and Development), from SOAS, University of London (London, UK), and a B.A., English from Loyola Marymount University (Los Angeles, CA). She has also studied at the Democracy and Diversity Institute’s Trans-regional Center for Democratic Studies (Cape Town, South Africa).
