As part of the African Commission on People’s and Human Rights (ACHPR) NGO Forum, TrustAfrica and the Global Forum of Communities Discriminated on Work and Descent (GFoD), led by Dr Paul Divakar successfully hosted a high-level panel discussion on CDWD. The panel took place on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, in Arusha, Tanzania with Dr Sall and Ibrahima Kane (Human Rights Advisor at Open Society Foundation) joining remotely. TrustAfrica’s Executive Director, Dr. Ebrima Sall spoke eloquently on the role of the African Network of Communities Discriminated on Work and Descent and Against Slavery (ANDS) in raising awareness about DWD and slavery in Africa. He also called for concerted efforts to end discrimination and exclusion in every sphere of life, especially in Africa. It will be recalled that ANDS was created in 2019 after TrustAfrica, The Inclusive Project (TIP) and their global allies convened in Dakar to discuss ways of eradicating discrimination based on work and descent (DWD), caste systems, and slavery in Africa.
