Part One: Panel Discussion
Theme: Africa and the Current Global Crises: Impacts and Response
The escalating US-Israel-Iran conflict, alongside the Russia-Ukraine war (now in its fourth year), the Gaza genocide, trade wars, and the breakdown of the ‘rule-based’ multilateral system, are plunging the world into deeper unknowns. Rising oil and food prices, disrupted trade routes and supply chains, and diverted attention from Sahel, DRC, and Sudan crises are hitting Africa hard.
What economic, financial, social, and political consequences are these polycrises inflicting on the continent? How is Africa responding? What roles can the African Union, Regional Economic Communities (RECs), governments, civil society, social movements, business, and philanthropy play to mitigate impacts, advance Agenda 2063, and uphold the Pact for the Future?
Join us to explore these issues and African-led paths to peace, justice, and sustainable futures in a reimagined world.
