On 31 August 2026, TrustAfrica convened Africa Reimagining Futures in Accra, bringing together an eclectic community of thinkers, creatives, innovators, scholars, activists, and changemakers to challenge assumptions and explore bold possibilities for Africa’s future.
The gathering provided a unique space for critical reflection and imagination at a time when Africa faces profound social, economic, technological, and environmental transformations. Participants engaged in conversations that questioned conventional wisdom, examined emerging trends, and sought new pathways toward a more just, prosperous, and self-determined future for the continent.
The convening opened with an inspiring keynote address by renowned Nigerian-British writer and poet Sir Ben Okri, whose reflections challenged participants to embrace imagination as a powerful force for transformation. Drawing on the intersections of culture, storytelling, memory, and human possibility, Sir Ben Okri set the tone for a day of deep inquiry and courageous thinking about Africa’s future.
Throughout the convening, speakers and participants explored ideas that stretched beyond immediate challenges, asking fundamental questions about the future of governance, knowledge production, creativity, leadership, technology, and African agency.
