January 24th, 2023

On 24th April, 2024, TrustAfrica’s Executive Director, Dr Ebrima Sall joined a Parallel session on Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions (SDG 16) alongside other distinguished panellits. In his contribution, Dr. Sall, emphasized that at the heart of achieving traction on SDG 16 is a multidisciplinary resolve to address the rising inequalities. He called for a genuine and sustained shift of the power in global development and financial architecture.

In reflecting on the youth bulge in Africa, Dr. Sall recommended a renewed focus on human capital development that imparts knowledge and skills which can be absorbed on the African continent whilst bridging the digital and technological divide. The youth are stepping into power and spaces of conversations, decision making and implementation at global, continental, regional and national levels must be reformed to allow meaningful youth participation.

Looking ahead towards the Summit of the Future, Dr. Sall echoed that the Future is African and this calls for Africa to be at the centre of setting the Summit agenda and igniting candid conversations on decolonization, curbing illicit financial flows, addressing the debt crisis, just climate actions, democratic governance, natural resource governance and harnessing the transforming power of philanthropy to shape the Africa We Want.
