The symposium will take place from 19 to 21 January 2023 at the Assane Seck University of Ziguinchor, Senegal.
Amilcar Cabral, who was a foremost pan-Africanist, intellectual, poet, theoretician, revolutionary, political organizer, nationalist, and diplomat continues to inspire countless intellectuals around the world who regard him as a model thinker and statesman who was able to conciliate theory and practice. Numerous works have been dedicated to him in almost all areas of knowledge: economics, politics, education, culture, etc.
For Cabral, the progress of Africa requires unity and work, values that seem to be relegated to the background today. The mention of Amilcar Lopes Da Costa Cabral evokes the liberation struggles for which he was a major actor. His vision of a liberated Africa was based on some essential postulates, including:
- Respect and of the dignity of the black man and his effective participation in what Senghor called the civilization of the universal;
- The essential role of the youth in the world development of the continent;
- The determinant place of the woman in the strategy of development of the countries freed from the colonial yoke, and;
- Culture is a pillar of the work of national reconstruction.
