Join us at the inaugural World Communities Forum 23-24 March 2021
TrustAfrica is excited the be a thought partner and anchoring member of this inaugural event which will profile communities and the solutions they are finding. At TrustAfrica, for over 15 years now, we’ve moved side by side with communities and community leaders, civil society and our continental political architecture working together on the most pressing challenges of our time as a continent. And if COVID-19 has reinforced anything, it is the notion that communities and proximate leaders are the ones who are best equipped to respond to the challenges in their communities. We are proud as an African philanthropic foundation to be able to meet our communities in these responses and amplify their impact with catalytic support and by bringing them into key continental and global fora such as the inaugural World Communities Forum.
The World Communities Forum, which will be held virtually on 23 and 24 March 2021, will flip the dynamics of established, exclusionary platforms that focus on the voices of the global elite, and will instead amplify the voices of proximate leaders who best know what their communities around the world need in order to thrive.
The event has been programmed from the grassroots up, with the practitioners who are driving impact designing the stage content, including groundbreaking conversations and interactive showcases. We will hear directly from those on the ground with live participation from communities in Kibera, Mumbai, Pakistan, Brazil, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, and more.
The first-of-its-kind global development event will pair high profile leaders, including Chelsea Clinton, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, Darren Walker, Cecile Richards, Nick Kristof and Cheryl Dorsey, as interviewers–listening and learning–from the stories of community leaders around the world.
Together, we will highlight the outsized potential of community-based solutions to drive COVID-19 recovery and progress towards the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
Topics will include the empowerment of women and girls, economic recovery, COVID vaccine equity, the future of grassroots organizing, and the localization revolution
