We are thrilled to share the success of our recent virtual briefing, which marked the beginning of our journey towards the 3rd African Social Movements Baraza (#Baraza2025). Held on March 5, 2025, this event brought together organizers and social movement leaders from across the continent to ignite critical conversations, share vital updates, and highlight opportunities for participation. With the theme “The Power of Movements,” the briefing set the stage for the upcoming Baraza in Accra, Ghana, from April 14-16, 2025. Our featured speakers, including Coumba Toure, Briggs Bomba, Phumi Mtetwa, Hardi Yakubu, Rachael Mwikali, and Dirk Shaka, provided dynamic insights and inspired attendees to organize and mobilize towards a collective future.
One of the highlights of the event was the powerful opening remarks by Briggs Bomba, Programs Director for TrustAfrica. His speech emphasized the importance of solidarity, action, and the collective power of social movements in shaping a better future for Africa. We have made the entire event available online, along with a separate link to Briggs Bomba’s inspiring speech. The virtual briefing created a space for changemakers to connect, listen, and learn from each other, setting a strong foundation for the engagements and activations leading up to #Baraza2025. We are excited to continue this journey and look forward to the impactful discussions and collaborations that will take place in Accra.
