Our Grantmaking
TrustAfrica has stewarded over us$80 million in support of African civil society, awarding more than 600 grants to organizations in 34 African countries since inception. On average we award us$2 million in grant funding each year, through collaborations with our philanthropic partners. We also provide technical assistance to organizations within our focal areas, and other forms of support to help build resilience and offer opportunities for learning and collaboration across boundaries.

All information concerning grant applicants including the status of a grant proposals, internal discussions and deliberations, and evaluation records is treated confidentially

supported organization. - We therefore observe all rules and laws binding organizations such as ours in the
countries in which we are legally constituted. - We voluntarily share information about our program activities with peers and regularly

GRANTMAKING POLICY
TrustAfrica is a proactive grantmaker with a fundamental approach to philanthropy and development. Our approach includes intensive and collaborative planning between TrustAfrica and the institutions it has identified.
Transparency in our processes is important, so TrustAfrica’s grantmaking process and workflow is managed through a grants management system that provides visibility of the entire process to all users, in addition to collecting information about the prospective grantees, monitoring project outcomes, and scheduling payments.
