West African Philanthropy Webinar Series: Launching a New Space for Dialogue and Learning

September 8, 2026

TrustAfrica has launched the West African Philanthropy Webinar Series, a quarterly dialogue platform created under the West African Philanthropy Support Ecosystem (WAPSE) initiative to foster evidence-based discussion, shared learning and critical reflection on the evolving philanthropy ecosystem in West Africa.

The inaugural session, held on 22 July 2026 under the theme “Beyond Grants: What Are the Missing Pieces for Africa’s Philanthropy Future?”, brought together philanthropy practitioners and ecosystem actors to explore how philanthropy can move beyond traditional grantmaking towards more sustainable, locally rooted and ecosystem-driven approaches. The discussion highlighted the importance of diversifying financing models, investing in the infrastructure for giving, strengthening philanthropy ecosystems, advancing African agency and fostering collaboration across sectors.

To carry these conversations beyond the webinar itself, TrustAfrica is pleased to share Webinar Insights | Issue 01, the first edition of a new knowledge product capturing five key insights from the inaugural session. Alongside the publication, selected speaker reflections, key highlights and the webinar recording are being shared through TrustAfrica’s communication channels to encourage continued dialogue and learning across the philanthropy ecosystem.
