Workshop on E-Governance for Broadening Democracy

November 30, 2007

TrustAfrica is part of a broad-based initiative designed to establish an electronic clearinghouse for sharing knowledge, experiences, and best practices throughout Africa and to support capacity building and partnerships among African organizations. Our partners in this effort are the Open Society Initiative, UNESCO, IDRC, the Panos Institute, and the Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa (CODESRIA).

In April 2008, we convened the inaugural meeting of this initiative in Accra, Ghana, drawing a wide range of stakeholders from across Africa and Europe. Among them were representatives of international organizations, African government officials, and advocates from African civil society organizations. Twelve African nations were represented: Benin, Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Guinea, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, and Togo.
