Media Training on International Criminal Justice in Uganda

TrustAfrica, in partnership with the Netherlands Embassy in Uganda, and in collaboration with the International Criminal Court Field Offices in Uganda is hosting a 5-day training (6-10 May 2019) on international criminal justice for media practitioners and social media influencers. The training is aimed at building the capacity of a select number of media practitioners and social media influencers from South Sudan and Uganda to effectively report on and generate constructive public debates on transitional justice developments and international criminal justice at the local, national, regional and international levels.

The specific objectives of the training are to:

  1. Educate and enhance knowledge of select media professional on ICJ and transitional mechanisms, challenges and opportunities in the target countries
  2. Strengthen the technical capacity of media professionals to document ICJ ad transitional justice processes in a professional and interactive manner
  3. Facilitate the contact and exchange with the ICC on the court in general and sharing of the institution’s experience with international crimes
  4. Facilitate best practices, lessons learned and experience sharing between the media professionals from South Sudan and Uganda.
