Policymakers, development partners, researchers and entrepreneurs in Kenya and elsewhere are sure to benefit from the information contained in a new book entitled “Public Policy and Enterprise Development in Kenya.” The publication, a result of research produced through the Investment Climate and Business Environment research fund, documents case study strategies for enterprise development in Kenya based on three key areas; public policy and stakeholder involvement; corporate support and capacity development; and entrepreneurial support and leadership.
The book’s editors, Professor Francis Wambalaba and Dr. Sunday A. Khan, were present at the Windsor Hotel in Nairobi for the launching of the book, as well as several dignitaries, including Mr. Amos Kimunya, former Minister for Finance and former Minister for Transport in Kenya and Dr. Julius Muia, Executive Secretary of the National Economic and Social Council.
The Investment Climate and Business Environment Research fund is a joint effort of TrustAfrica and the International Development Research Center. Its aim is to address some of the main obstacles to promoting a healthy business climate in Africa. Since its inception in 2006, the project has spent nearly $4 million donating 116 grants to research and advocacy efforts that will improve the policies surrounding the investment climate and business environment.
