TrustAfrica, in partnership with the Department of History of Cheikh Anta Diop University (UCAD), successfully hosted a high-level public lecture on “Pan-Africanism, African Unionism and Continentalism: Three Distinct but Complementary Ideologies.”
Delivered by Dr Joomay Ndongo Faye, the lecture brought together students, researchers, academics, civil society actors, and members of the public for a rich and thought-provoking discussion on the intellectual and political foundations of African unity.
Drawing on historical analysis and contemporary developments, Professor Faye explored the evolution of Pan-Africanism, African Unionism, and Continentalism, highlighting their distinct origins while demonstrating how they collectively contribute to the pursuit of a sovereign, integrated, and prosperous Africa. The lively discussion that followed reflected the audience’s strong interest in the future of African integration, governance, and continental cooperation.
The event forms part of TrustAfrica’s commitment to promoting African-led knowledge production, critical dialogue, and public engagement on issues that shape the future of the continent. It also provided an important platform for intergenerational exchange between scholars, practitioners, and young Africans eager to contribute to Africa’s transformation.
