The Status of Domestification of the Africa Mining Vision in Uganda : The Case of Artisanal and Small-scale Mining

This report assesses how much Uganda has been able to domesticate the AMV in the country’s mining policies. It highlights gaps and provides policy recommendations for strengthening artisanal and small-scale mining and ensuring sustainable mineral resource governance. The report covers key aspects of the implementation of the AMV, such as a country overview of the ASM gold sector, policy and legal frameworks for ASM, institutional framework and capacity, financing and taxation, environmental issues in ASM, occupational health and safety, ASM and livelihoods, access to information and technology, and other contextual and emerging issues and recommendations.
