Dorothy is an enthusiastic, experienced and passionate advocate for womenís rights and freedoms with an excellent track record of hitting targets in the Third Sector for 20 years – principally in institutional strengthening, financial inclusion, grant making, advocacy, fundraising & development finance, research, management and programming. It has been her lifeís work to advocate for the respect, protection and fulfilment of the ideals of just and thriving Communities. Her speciality is in Resource Mobilization and Movement building having initiated, grown and nurtured several womenís rights networks. 

Key achievements and strengths include strategic partnerships and building of allies and supporters. Experience includes pipeline development for funding and investing in women both in the private and non-profit sectors. She has built strong relationships across different sectors as a voice for the underserved and marginalised communities particularly across the financial landscape in 17 countries in Africa as the network Manager for the Graca Machel Trust. She has co-created and implemented 12 Advocacy campaigns at community, national, regional and continental/ international levels. Worked closely with and represented different organisations creating and nurturing funding partnerships. She works collaboratively in multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural teams to deliver impact. Her experience includes working at all levels of Government from technocrats to Ministerial and at all levels with communities, to national, regional and international in the development field.  Voluntary work has included working for the Womenís Entrepreneurship Day Organisation (WEDO) for 7 years covering the East African region and then globally running a womenís empowerment program across 144 countries. Contributing to the African Philanthropy discourse, developing and implementing strategies in Individual Giving on the African continent in response to humanitarian crises and expanding civic space. Dorothy worked as an international development consultant and is an independent problem-solver who keeps her eye on the bigger picture; she is a seasoned resource mobilization expert garnering support from activists, researchers, development partners and practitioners for their expertise with their time, talents and financial resources. Throughout her career she has become an expert in interpersonal relationship building in diverse, cultural, complex and dynamic societal contexts.
