Nekesa Stephanie Wamalwa is an inspiring leader leading youth empowerment campaigns in Africa. Nekesa, who has extensive experience leading successful initiatives, is currently leading TrustAfricaís Africa Youth Panel Initiative. She oversees a participatory action research project that involves ten African countries and places a strong emphasis on meaningful youth engagement and respectable work, showcasing her commitment to empowering the continentís youth and fostering positive change.

Prior to her role at TrustAfrica, Nekesa held pivotal positions at renowned organizations. At Planned Parenthood Global, she led youth engagement initiatives, expanding the Billi Now Now! movement across 15+ countries and engaging over 1.3 million young people. At Girl Effect, Nekesa excelled as a Specialist, crafting multi-tiered youth-centred program strategies and adeptly retooling the youth participation team for unparalleled success. She also contributed significantly to initiatives at Code for Africa, HCDExchange, UN SDSN Youth, Akili Dada, and Marval OíFarrel y Mairal.

Nekesa is a Youth Advisor for the World Bankís Solutions for Youth Employment program, where she continues to provide her knowledge to address urgent problems related to youth employment around the world. Her commitment to supporting group research projects demonstrates her enthusiasm for improving the lives of adolescents. In addition to her pursuit of a Master of Science in International Public Policy at Queen Mary University of London, Nekesa holds a Bachelor of Laws from Strathmore University. She also participated in the Women Leaders Program Cohort at Leap Africa Institute, served as a Youth Advisor at USAID, and was a Fellow at KECTIL. In addition to her career goals, Nekesa enjoys reading African literature greatly and is fascinated by the rich history of the continent. She indulges in outdoor activities such as running, hiking, and safari rallies, finding inspiration and solace in the great outdoors. Fluent in English, Swahili, and German, Nekesa is dedicated to honing her French language skills, reflecting her commitment to expanding her cultural and linguistic horizons.
