TrustAfrica at the UNESCO International Forum on the Futures of Education at the Suwon Convention Center in Gyeonggi-do, Republic of Korea

December 3, 2024

TrustAfrica is proud to participate in the UNESCO International Forum on the Futures of Education: Renewing the Social Contract for Education, taking place in Sewun, South Korea, from the 2nd to the 4th of December.

TrustAfrica’s Executive Director, Ebrima Sall, who was a member of the expert group that supported the International Commission on the Futures of Education chaired by HE Sahle-Work Zewde (then President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia), is contributing to this important global dialogue.

The Commission’s landmark 2021 report, “Reimagining Our Futures Together: Towards a New Social Contract for Education”, highlighted the need to overhaul education systems to address inequality, promote sustainability, and prepare individuals for the challenges of the 21st century.

At the Forum, Ebrima Sall will speak on a plenary panel titled Knowledge and Research for Just and Sustainable Futures and participate in a parallel session, Building Life-long and Life-wide Learning Societies.

This engagement highlights TrustAfrica’s commitment to fostering transformative education practices that empower communities and drive equitable development. The conversations at this Forum are a timely reminder of the need to reimagine education as a lifelong right and a cornerstone for just and sustainable futures.
